One thing to keep in mind is that while this crib is perfect for newborns, it won’t last long after your baby turns six months old, which means you’ll have to purchase larger cots. However, overall Roanna thought that the Joie Roomie Glide was a really good buy and she particularly liked its elegant design.
The Roomie Glide is available to purchase at John Lewis for PS160, which Roanna felt was an affordable price for a cot featuring such advanced features. She also liked how it looked in the bedroom, and believed that the grey shade would suit most modern homes. She did point out that it’s not a good idea to rock a baby when it’s younger as it can cause a bad sleep pattern for later.

It has a drop side rail which can be easily lowered to feed your baby at night without having to disturb your little one or get up It’s perfect for mothers who are breastfeeding! We love that it’s constructed from soft materials with breathable mesh sides that promote airflow and comfort. It’s available in charcoal and oak and has a variety of melange fabric options that work well with a variety of decor styles. Anna found it to be sturdy and secure when affixed to her bed with the legs firmly snapping into the bed and the zips secured to ensure baby safety. It took her around 10 minutes to assemble and didn’t require any tools, with clear instructions and a video or support contact number should you have any issues.

The Chicco Next2Me Magic
This is one of Chicco’s more expensive options. It does have numerous excellent features. It’s designed to be used as a side sleeper or a standalone crib, and is suitable for babies up to six months. It features a brand new mechanism to open and close the side panel and is easy to operate even with one hand. It’s also more adjustable than its predecessor with 11 different height levels as well as retractable feet for a secure installation under any bed.
Our testers were impressed with the simple access to the side panel that can be flipped up and down at the touch of a button. This was a huge help in feedings at night as it meant that they could reach into and pick up their baby without waking them up.
It is possible to lower the side panel by itself but this is not advised, because it increases the chance that your child will be thrown out of the cot. However, the safety locking mechanism means that it can only remain in place when it is attached to the bed properly. This feature is fantastic for peace of mind if you breastfeed and require frequent nighttime feeds.
Telescopic legs allow the Chicco Next2Me Magic to be used with any bed, including divan bases and beds with drawers. It also comes with a tilting function to help babies who are refluxy and a rocking feature to bring them back to sleep after eating. It is also very spacious and has excellent ventilation due to its mesh sides.
The Next2Me Magic was easy to use and set up for our testers, despite the lengthy instruction manual. It’s a bit heavier than some of the other side-sleepers, but it’s fairly mobile and can be moved from room to room with ease. It’s also foldable into a bag for travel, which is a great option when you need to transport it. The only thing our test subjects found was that the side panel didn’t stretch as much as other models. This caused it to be a bit more difficult to see your baby from your bed.
The Shnuggle Air
The Shnuggle Air bedside crib is a great choice if you want a crib that grows with your child. It’s a crib for co-sleeping that is securely attached to your bed and can be transformed into a stylish cot once your baby is old enough. The dual-view mesh side panels and hypoallergenic, breathable airflow mattress allow for maximum airflow, keeping your baby comfortable and cool. A gentle incline can help to ease colic and reflux and colic, while the zip-down side allows you to feed or comfort your baby throughout the night.
The kit for conversion to cot is also well designed, with clear instructions. It includes everything you need. It took us about an hour to put together and was fairly straightforward. The only downside to the instructions was that a few pictures did not have captions. This made it difficult for us to follow the instructions. Overall, it was an easy process and the quality of the materials used was high.
In the co-sleeping mode, we found the Shnuggle Air to be an excellent option for breastfeeding mothers and women who have had a c-section as it allows them to easily reach out to their infant to feed and comfort them without having to climb out of their bed. It’s also great for those who wish to avoid the difficulty of getting into and out of a traditional cot or placing their child down for a nap.
The gliding motion was discovered to be very beneficial in lulling babies to sleep after feedings at night or midday. The drop-down side is also accessible to feed or soothe babies in the middle of the night this was a huge draw for our exhausted test mothers. Although it doesn’t rock, or have additional features such as a sound machine, the Joie Roomie Glide’s sleek design and functional features are a welcome addition our top crib reviews for bed.
